Signum Cuba Sandstone

For those familiar with the watches offered by Kyle, the creator of the brand Straton Watches, you should know that he created a second brand in order to offer watches whose dials are made from natural materials.

It is a diver of this new brand that I have the pleasure to make you discover.

The Brand

As I said in my introduction, Kyle has taken on the challenge of creating a new brand. I speak of challenge because I was able to realize that it is already very complicated to make a watch brand live, but daring to propose a second one is even more challenging!

It is under the name of Signum Watch Co. that Kyle offers us a variety of watches whose originality lies mainly in the design of the dials that are made from natural materials.

The Watch This is my new diver, the Signum Cuba Sandstone.

The name is quite self-explanatory, the particularity of this model is the dial made from sandstone, offered in either orange or green color. For your personal information, you should know that sandstone is a sandy rock used in pottery for its solidity and that sandstone is used for ceramics.

The Case

Signum Watch Co offers this watch with a steel case and leaves the choice between two sizes, which will make it suitable for all wrist sizes.

I received my Cuba with a 40mm case, crown included, but you can choose a 44mm case, if you prefer larger watches.

The case is made of brushed steel, it has a fairly basic shape, which makes this watch very pleasant to wear.

The caseback is engraved a shark, a reference used very often, which is absolutely not disturbing.

There is of course a ceramic bezel that turns unilaterally, it is two-tone (black and white) and very smooth to handle, which is not always the case.

The Dial

As I said in my introduction, the particularity of the Signum brand is to offer dials made from natural materials.

And so, my Cuba watch has a sandstone dial, orange color. It even becomes ochre or brown, depending on the light.

The indexes as well as the hands are well proportioned and are treated with superluminova for a very good readability in the dark.

But the biggest peculiarity of this dial is the glittery appearance found on a sandstone rock. It is obvious that one either like it or hate it, but it will not leave you indifferent. I must admit that I didn’t wear it once because as soon as I received it, my wife clearly told me that it was her new watch!

And to effectively protect this dial, there is a sapphire crystal.

The Movement

To offer a qualitative and affordable watch, Kyle chose to equip most of his watches with Seiko NH35 (with date) or NH38 (without date) movements.

I am not going to talk about these movements because I have already indicated many times that they are known for their reliability and robustness.

The screw-down crown is located at 4 o’clock and engraved with the logo of the Signum brand. I must say that the position at 4H brings additional comfort because it happens very often to me to be bothered by crowns located at 3H.

This diver watch has a water resistance of 20 ATM, which will allow you to practice all water sports, including diving.

The Strap

The Scuba watch is sold with a brushed steel bracelet (same finishing as the case), making it a sober and homogeneous watch.

It is neither too heavy nor too light and seems to me to be of good quality.

You can put it to the right size by removing links and adjust it with more precision on the double safety clasp, engraved with the brand logo.

Conclusion

It’s a real challenge that Kyle has went on by creating this new brand but I must admit that I’m not surprised by the very good result.

Having already had the opportunity to test Straton watches, I knew that the quality would be there.

It is really the offer of these dials that will make the difference because it is very difficult to stand out in this highly competitive environment.

As always, Kyle offers quality and affordable watches and you can be tempted by my Scuba diver for only 369$ (338€). I invite you to visit the website of Signum Watch Co. and discover the watches, especially the large variety of dials.
