Davosa Trailmaster

The world of affordable watches stamped “swiss made” isn’t that big, and Davosa is certainly one of their major actors who’s been providing quality watches for a long time. The trailmaster is the first Davosa we’re reviewing on AWDO, but it’s likely that more will follow!

The case

The case of the Trailmaster is made of sandblasted stainless steel, providing a matte effect that screams “this is a toolwatch!”. It has hooded lugs, giving it more or less a barrel shape.

The standard crown is located at 3 o’clock. It’s not screwed-down, which would have been appreciated. At 10 o’clock you’ll find another crown (this one is screwed-down) to operate the internal bezel.

On top is a flat sapphire crystal glass with an efficient AR coating.

The dial

The blue sunburst dial is a proof that a dial could be both beautiful and offer a high legibility! The painted white indices, while removing any relief from the dial, contribute to improve its legibility. The relief is brought by the internal bezel and the yellow highlights of the minutes/seconds marks, as well as the second-hand.

I’m not a big fan of large day/date windows, I’d have liked a no-date version, but since it’s well integrated at 3 o’clock, why not ?

The movement

The Trailmaster is equipped with an ETA 2836-2, visible thanks to the transparent caseback. It’s a reliable and accurate movement, especially considering the price of the watch. That movement has a 38h power reserve.

The strap

The nylon strap the Trailmaster comes on fits the 22mm lug width but expands to almost 25mm and then tappers down to 20mm on the buckle. While a bit stiff at the beginning, it quickly became more flexible and wearable.

The blue fabric has yellow stitching and gives the watch a fresh and sporty style that I really like!

Conclusion

The short lug to lug distance and the contained width make the Trailmaster easy to wear for most wrist sizes.

With its sandblasted case, a 10ATM water resistance and scratch-proof glass, it’s the perfect wrist companion for your summer trips! The Trailmaster is available from Davosa’s website for 748€, which is a steal considering the specs and the built quality!
