The watch I’m reviewing today is being produced by a company who’s not only a watchmaker but also a lifestyle brand. I have already introduced you the P3C/02 Racer and the T3/01, here’s another one, based on the same DNA, the Sevenfriday T2/01.
- Size: 45 x 45.6 mm
- Case: Stainless steel (316L) with finishing switched between polished, brushed and sandblasted.
- Dial: Gradient green semi transparent dial. Printing relief in white and beige colors.
- Strap: Green canvas with tone on tone stitchings. Brown lining.
- Water resistance: 3ATM – Splash/Rain resistant – No swimming – No diving
- Engine: Automatic skeleton TMI (Seiko) NH70
The watch comes in a small box looking like a cargo wooden box. Although it’s just another box that will require some storage space, I find it cool. Sliding its lid off reveals the watch.
The square(ish) case is made of Stainless Steel (316L), alternating between polished and brushed finishing. I admit a 45mm width may sound really big, but let’s not forget that this watch doesn’t have any lug at all. The strap is directly attached to the case, which makes it even a bit small for me in the end. The case side is engraved with the brand name, so is the crown at 3 o’clock with the brand logo.
My first impressions were really good! The watch feels robust and well made, and obviously carries a genuine personality. I was a bit afraid of the glass quality since it’s made of hardened mineral glass. I’d definitely feel better knowing I’m wearing a watch equipped with a sapphire crystal lens, but this one seems to achieve the job as expected. It also has an efficient AR coating, offering a satisfying legibility in most situations.
Like on most watches made by Sevenfriday, the dial is a rather complex aggregation of materials and elements. Once again, the movement can be seen through the semi-transparent dial. I must admit it may be a bit busy for a quick time-reading, but it’s just a matter of getting used to it.
All Sevenfriday watches are now equipped with an NFC (Near Field Communication) chip embedded in the caseback. These chips are allowing a secured authentication with the Sevenfriday mobile app, confirming the watch is legit. Once authenticated, you can unlock an additional 1 year warranty directly from the app. Considering how many fake pieces are sold everywhere, this feature is really more than welcome!
This vversion of the T-Series comes with a beautiful autumnal green canvas strap. It’s not as stiff as I thought it would be, so it feels really comfortable on the wrist 😊
The T-Series are all equipped with the reliable Seiko NH70 movement, offering a 40 hours power reserve. It’s definitely not a high-end movement but it works as expected and can be easily serviced.
I have been wearing the T2/01 for a bit more than a month now. Although I wouldn’t necessarily bring it while meeting with some watch-addict friends, I’ve been happily wearing it in many other situations. The quality is as good as it can be, and it has a real personality.
