Venturo Field Watch #2

Following its successful launching of its first model, Venturo is preparing to put its second model on the market, the Venturo Field Watch #2, an automatic watch. It is already possible to pre-order it and get a $50 discount. Then you will only have to wait until the official release in March/April 2020. I had the opportunity to receive it before in order to introduce it to you.

About Venturo by Gruppo Gamma

Gruppo Gamma was created in 2013. In 2019, the Venturo label was created as a derivative of Gruppo Gamma, with the aim of reaching a wider range of customers. Venturo would concentrate more on the use of Japanese movements. In fact, the stocks of the first model, the Venturo Field Watch #1, were exhausted within a few months

The Watch

To create the Venturo Field Watch #2, the brand was inspired by the Rolex Oyster Army, a watch that had been distributed in very few copies to allies during the Second World War. However, they adapted the case size to modern habits because the Rolex had only a 30mm case.

The Case

This is really a part of the watch that I greatly appreciated. Indeed, the case of Field Watch #2 is an alternation of polished and brushed steel, which brings a very beautiful relief and a very beautiful aspect.

Moreover, its size of 42mm and its thickness of 11mm make it a watch that will fit all wrists. I speak from my own experience with my small 16.5cm wrist.

The case is equipped with a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and to ensure a waterproofing of 200m, there is a screw-in crown with the logo of the brand in relief. In fact, this crown is very easy to manipulate, which is not always the case.

The Dial

In addition to the shape of the case, the inspiration of the Rolex Oyster Army can also be seen on the dial. We find the same positioning of the figures and indexes, so particular on this model. Some will like it and some won’t, but what would watchmaking be if there were no debate?

The dial of this specific model is a sunburst blue, which according to the light tends to become gray. I have always loved this type of dial that seems to be always different. However, you have other colours available on the brand’s website.

The indexes are Vintage Swiss Superluminova coloured and the golden hands are filled with the same colour as the indexes.

The Strap

My Venturo is equipped with a blue canvas strap that gives the effect of a jeans. It is very particular as a feeling at first because it is a bit rough as a material but you get used to it very quickly and in the end, once the fabric is softened, the comfort is impeccable and this material feels really solid. Note that in addition to this strap, you’ll get a second one in leather which, if it’s as qualitative as the rest, will certainly be great. The straps are mounted with a pin buckle adorned with the logo of the brand.

The Mouvement

As indicated at the beginning of my presentation, Venturo’s vocation is to use Japanese movements in particular. And it is therefore a Seiko NH35 that is embedded on this watch, a movement that is no longer to be presented because it is widely used thanks to its low cost but also and above all, for its reliability and robustness.

Venturo has chosen for their second model to be inspired by a vintage Rolex, which was accomplished quite successfully in my opinion. We find the codes of the 40’s with the touch of modernity that’s nowadays necessary.

I was a bit on restraint when I first got it because I found the bracelet rough and the visual of the watch left me puzzled. But I must say that after several days on my wrist, all my doubts have vanished on both comfort and visual. And around me, I realized that it attracted a lot of attention because it is out of the standards that we are used to seeing on a lot of wrists.

If you are looking for an affordable and changing watch, I invite you to visit the website of Venturo by Gruppo Gamma, discover the different colors proposed for the Venturo Field Watch #2 and take advantage of the $50 discount for pre-orders.
